Short answer: most junk removal jobs in Los Angeles cost between $129 and $750. A single bulky item like a couch or refrigerator usually costs $129–$200. A full truckload, enough for a whole-house or large-garage cleanout, usually costs $650–$800. Companies price by volume, meaning how much space your items take up in the truck.

What changes the price of junk removal
- Volume. This is the biggest factor. A truck has a fixed amount of space, and you pay for the share you use.
- Weight. Concrete, dirt, roofing and tile are very heavy. Disposal facilities charge by weight, so these materials are usually priced by weight rather than volume.
- Special items. Refrigerators, AC units, mattresses, tires and electronics have recycling requirements that can add a small fee.
- Access. Most companies, including Blaze, include stairs and normal carries in the price. Extreme access, like a long hillside walk in Topanga or a no-elevator fourth floor, can add labor time.
- Disassembly. Items like hot tubs, playsets or sheds that must be cut down or dismantled cost more.
Is junk removal worth it compared to doing it yourself?
DIY sounds cheaper until you add it up: a pickup or trailer rental, gas, a full afternoon, transfer-station fees (charged by weight), and the risk of injury or damage. For anything more than a couple of items, professional junk removal usually costs about the same as DIY and saves you a day.
The free alternative is your city’s bulky-item pickup. In the City of Los Angeles that’s LA Sanitation through MyLA311. It’s a good choice if you can wait for a collection date and move items to the curb yourself. See our LA bulky-item pickup guide.
How to save money on junk removal
- Bundle items. One half-truck visit costs less than three single-item visits.
- Donate first. Charities may pick up good-condition furniture for free (see our furniture donation guide).
- Separate heavy materials so they can be priced properly instead of mixed into a volume load.
- Get a firm on-site price before work starts. Reputable companies won’t charge by the hour or add surprise fees.
- Send photos for a ballpark estimate before you book.
